Local Team Raise Huge Sum
The jockeys from the Shetland Pony Grand National Yorkshire team based at Brompton on Swale had a mega fund raiser for Gt. Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children Charity on Saturday at Tesco Catterick Garrison supported by William Hill = bookmakers who provide the 10 qualifying ponies with rugs to wear at the London International Horse Show at Olympia this year from 17-22nd December 2008. The girls brightly clad in their racing silks had a bag pack and raised £1220. in their specially decorated buckets and the best bucket was won by Courtney Stanley from Richmond who is in her first year of racing and is loving it.
William Hill kindly donated to the cause and Riccalton Lucky a grey
Shetland Pony was outside to meet and greet punters and shoppers in
his smart navy rug who collected a separate £164.00 in his collection
These children race in the Shetland Pony Grand National throughout the
summer at various county shows and venues around the country and the
first or first and second pony past the finishing post has the honour
of going to the Olympia Horse Show.
The Shetland Grand National has been raising money for Childrens charities for over 20 years and have exceeded £400,000.
Last year these great kids presented Gt. Ormond Street with a cheque for £18.104.00 and hope to match it this year.
We would like to thank everyone who helped us on Saturday and hope you
will enjoy watching them at the Olympia Horse show on BBC TV from 19th
December and Eurosport Daily from 17th December.
