Shetland Grand National special pony passed away.
Rhapsody of Butterby (23) owned by Karen Nixon of Yorkshire's Knix Shetland Stud passed away yesterday (18th) whilst laying in the sun..
She had been the first pony for Knix to qualify for Olympia in 1995 with Natalie Nemes from Catterick and went on to qualify for the next few years with the studs other jockeys. She retired at the age of 19 from racing and went on to have her first foal at 20 years. She was a special little pony to a lot of children by way of teaching them in lead rein classes and especially first ridden. She knew when to put her racing head on and in her day although only a small pony she could outwit the bigger ones - she will be sadly missed by many - rest in peace special little lady.
